Kidding. This is a great move!
The Jets explored signing Kelvin Beachum last season but were outbid by the Jaguars. Beachum was coming off of a torn ACL in his final year with the Steelers. It showed last year as he didn’t rebound to his prior top form and played through consistent knee pain.
Generally it takes a full year for a player to recover and return to peak playing condition after coming off an ACL injury. This could be a be great timing for the Jets, buying low on a talented player as his recovery rounds out.
Beachum will fill in the void left by Ryan Clady and Ben Ijalana will compete with Brandon Shell for the right tackle spot. The Jets may still add another interior lineman through the draft and free agency.
Beachum is also one of the all-around great guys in the NFL. Having him as a part of the Jets locker room is a terrific addition.
